Home work

Practice your Graphemes. Quiz tomorrow!

We have been talking in class about our virtue of the month: Commitment
Ask your child some things they do at home and at school to show commitment. We read the story a Promise is a Promise today.

Making the connection Idea: Have your child come up with one thing they can be committed to do at home and at school. (ie. put their dishes away after supper at home / help keep the lunchroom clean at school) You could also track their accomplishments on a chart for the month!

Bits & Pieces

*** We are still looking for 2 parent volunteers to join us on our field trip to the Y stage February 9th. Please e-mail me if you are interested! rckroeker@cbe.ab.ca

Please keep in mind that it is flu season. We have had a discussion in class about staying healthy. Please talk to your child about proper hand washing and how to keep germs away!
If your child is feeling unwell, please keep them home from school. Thank you!

Bits and Pieces

Thank you to everyone who did such a good job collecting their items for our "Beautiful Stuff" projects. We did a senses sorting activity with them yesterday using our different senses. Today we talked about describing words (ie. soft, smooth, bumpy, etc.) Ask your child about it.

Fun Lunch forms are due on Thursday. I am looking for a volunteer who would be able to come in on Thursday to organize/count all the forms and money AND who would be able to come on Fun Lunch day to help hand out lunches. Please email me if you can. Thank you.

***We are going on a field trip to the Y stage in the morning on February 9th. We need 3 parent volunteers to come with us from our class. Please let me know if you are available and would like to come with us! ***

Thank you,

Mrs. Kroeker

Bits & Pieces

Please remember to bring in your "beautiful stuff" bags on Monday! We will be sorting our treasures in the afternoon.

Fun Lunch Forms are due back to school by Wednesday, January 12th.

We have started learning about our 5 senses. Today we listened to different sounds and drew pictures to represent how the sounds made us feel. Ask me about some of the sounds. Help your child think of different sounds that could represent different feelings (ie. raindrops = peaceful)

Grapheme Quizzes will go home on Monday.

Have a great weekend!

Hello and WELCOME BACK after our Winter Break! We hope all our families had exciting and memorable holidays!

Our Day:

Today we wrote in our journals about our holidays. We also began our exploration of the Five Senses. In Math we played Addition War and would love to play this game at home; all you need to is deck of cards with NO face cards (J,Q,K). Add Gym and Library to all this and we had a VERY busy day!

Homework:

For the next two weeks we will be learning the last set of graphemes instead of spelling words. Please see the following link for a list of the final graphemes. Please make sure to practice since this set is tough!

PAJAMA DAY TOMORROW! It is also Backwards Lunch Day tomorrow. Students will get to eat their dessert first - so if you are able, please pack a special treat in your child's lunch tomorrow!

LAST DAY OF CLASSES Tomorrow - Winter Break - School Resumes January 3rd

Tuesday, December 14, 2010

Tuesday, December 14th

Three of the cast members from Dr. Seussical the Musical came to visit our school today! We asked them many wonderful questions and learned a lot about the life of an actor. Ask your child what they learned today!

In math we are working on number sentences and math stories. Have your child create their own number sentence or have them solve one that you invent. (ie. you can use objects from around the home, when out grocery shopping, etc.) example: "If we bought 6 apples and 3 oranges, how many pieces of fruit would we have?"

Reminder: Thursday is Pajama Day!!! It is also our last day of school for the holidays. School will resume January 3rd.

NO SPELLING QUIZ THIS WEEK
